VOID

In the late 1970s Four high schoolers in Columbia Maryland decided to start a band. They named to band VOID after a Black Sabbath song and proceeded to write and perform an over the top punk/ metal hybrid. Dissonant noise, speed, and chaos ensued. They recorded 1/2 of an LP and released a few compilation tracks on Dischord Records. They didn’t do too much touring and they only lasted a few years as a band.

You’d think that was the whole story, but VOID has achieved cult-like status. Their shows, art, demos, outtakes, and unfinished recordings have been bootlegged and fawned over for over 40 years. Everyone from music snobs to crust punks to celebrities seems to have been profoundly moved by these kids.

I’ve been obsessed with this band since first hearing them (in high school) on the Flex Your Head compilation and I’m overjoyed to be working with them on various projects, including this official hat/ patch offering. The entire band worked on this (now iconic) logo that’s been reproduced on countless bootlegs over the years.
