Metal Mania Magazine

Metal Mania was a crucial fanzine done by Ron Quintana. Ron Was a pivotal, beside the scenes guy of the early eighties Bay Area metal scene. Him and his friends here, Brian Lew and Harold O, have done the crime and done the time! The latter two were responsible for MURDER IN THE FRONT ROW, both a book and a movie about those heady times in San Francisco (and beyond) as well!

Note to self: don’t forget to draw demo tapes, stereos, getting mail, fanzines, a double deck cassette tape (they were very important during that time) and someone traveling to Kinkos (if there was one back then I can’t remember). Also, It must be pointed out that mail correspondence was the lifeblood of the dual metal/punk scenes (pre internet). You wanted to be involved? You had to get off your ass, buy some stamps and write some MFing letters! Afterwards, you would listen to some demos while dubbing a copy for your buddy with a double cassette deck, while you were stage diving off your Moms couch in anticipation of the next gig!  Yes, that is what we did and we loved it.
