The Black Halos

I met The Black Halos lead singer Billy Hopeless online where we became friendly. He was very nice and left messages for Miss Willow, which was sweet. I hadn’t really heard his band yet, and when he first sent me a song and I didn’t really get it. “Oh well”, he said, not taking things personally.

I was recently made aware that the band’s new album “HOW THE DARKNESS DOUBLED” name checked “Marquee Moon” (by the band Television). I listened to the record and saw right away that this band kicks ass. With a huge net of influences and a big Hanoi Rocks/Dead Boys sort of sound at times; Billy even sounds a little like Stiv Bators. The songwriting here is top notch.

I told Billy how wrong I was about his band and he just laughed: “Do you want to do a t shirt?” The results are here. Thanks to Billy and the rest of his band and Charles for letting this shirt happen. Cheers! -Brian Walsby
