Direct Hit

If you have ever happened across Milwaukee’s Direct Hit live, you’re unlikely to forget them. Loud, fast, melodic and fun as hell. I still remember my first time several years ago at a dive bar in Crockett, California. When they got signed to Fat Wreck Chords in 2016, I nodded to myself and knew that the label got this one right. Fast forward a year and my friend Chris Shary joined me on a Sunday morning in Las Vegas for a quick band shoot for an upcoming release … the band showed up sleepless, hungover/drunk and Danny the drummer was sipping on something called a “rusty nipple” out of a two foot tall souvenir cup. The photo session went great and afterwards I couldn’t help but try to get Chris turned on to Direct Hit’s latest, “Wasted Mind.” Clearly a few listens full of “Wasted Mind”s” drug and alcohol references took its toll on Chris because this is what fell out of his head. -Alan Snodgrass  www.digitaldiversion.net
