Product Description
I met John Howie Jr around 40 years ago when I moved to Raleigh, NC. He looked like he was ready to join the Dead Boys. Aside from looking pretty punk he was a sweetheart of a guy who liked a lot of good music. He played drums in a bunch of local bands and he was good at it. He even sold me my second drum set ages ago!
As the years went by, John put down the sticks and became quite a songwriter- there was certainly an era around here where there were a lot of songwriters and acts that would have been featured in the NO DEPRESSION magazine sort of crowd. To me, a couple of the standouts of that association were Kenny Roby and John. They both did stuff that resonated with me very strongly.
John has a bunch of real good records under his belt and with his current backing band (The Rosewood Bluff), John croons his amazing tunes in a deep voice while expressing his no bullshit songwriting. I really like John a lot and thank both him and Charles for letting this limited shirt happen. -Brian Walsby
