When I was in 8th grade (1988) the kid who introduced me to “Punk” showed up at school wearing a D.R.I. T-shirt. I noticed it as he approached with COC’s “Six Songs With Mike Singing” cassette tape in hand. “These guys are from Raleigh” he explained with in an excited Southern twang. We lived in a small town called Rocky Mount that was around 45 minutes away from Raleigh. It seemed like a big deal that COC was based out of Raleigh, NC. I mean, they had records out and stuff!

At the time, I was way more into Hip Hop than Punk and I took notice of my friend’s D.R.I. shirt because it looked like the logo was doing some sort of B-Boy dance. I hadn’t yet ventured into the world of live shows and slam dancing so I was a bit dumb regarding the skanking dude. He laughed at me (as he should have) and explained that they were a “Thrash band called Dirty Rotten “”Imboozles””. “You mean “”Imbeciles””? I asked. I guess I got the last laugh.

Here (over 30 years later) I’m happy to revisit this skanking logo man with this Emanuel Colucci and Kurt Brecht designed shirt. Get it while we got it!!! -Charles Cardello
