The Dead Milkmen

In 1990, my buddy and I were playing video games watching TV at his folks’ house. This was the guy who introduced me to “Punk” in the late ‘80s when his family moved in down the street from us in rural NC. MTV’s “Club MTV” was on and (for some odd reason) the throng of barely dressed dancers on the show were awkwardly moving around to The Dead Milkmen’s “Punk Rock Girl”. While this was my introduction to The DM, my friend was disgusted by MTV’s gross appropriation of Punk Rock. Keep in mind that their programming at the time consisted primarily of Warrant, Bon Jovi, Poison, and the like. This chance encounter with The Dead Milkmen eventually lead to me being a huge fan of the band and purchasing their 1985 Classic “Big Lizard In My Backyard”.

Flash forward to 2019: I’m running Bifocal and I’m still a big DM fan. At this point, we had been working with Chris Shary for a while on various shirts. We had already done another Dead Milkmen shirt and folks loved it so I proposed we do a “Big Lazard” shirt. I never expected that Chris would knock it out of the park to this degree; but in true Shary fashion, he went way above and beyond with this particular design. As you can clearly see, it’s a masterpiece and we’re proud to offer this light grey version of the “Big Lizard In My Backyard” T shirt design. -Charles/ Bifocal Media
