In the mid 80’s I was all about skating and punk/hardcore. Thrasher was my bible. Obviously bands who mixed my 2 favorite things were immediately on my radar. JFA, The Big Boys, The Supids, Drunk Injuns, all captured my attention on the initial Thrasher “Skate Rock” complications put together by the visionary MOFO. One band that really stood out in this pack was the Faction. The Faction featured a real life skate legend (even in the mid 80’s) Steve Caballero. Steve could seemingly do no wrong. Killer skater, great artist, and shredding guitarist for the Faction. They sang about skating and being a dorky kid who didn’t quite fit in, PLUS they had a cool horror movie vibe too. Geez whats not to love? Since the early 2000’s the Faction have sporadically reunited for brief moments and I have caught them every chance I had. I can tell you hey deliver the goods and are the sweetest dudes on top of that. I spoke with the band just recently at their 2 shows at Punk Rock Bowling and a little over a week later, we have this! I could not be more happy or honored to get the opportunity to work with the Faction agin (yeah I did a shirt for them in the early 2000’s). Hop on this and look gnarly when you “Skate and Destroy”! -Chris Shary
