- Artist Don Lewis
Release # BFLD290
Limited to 300
In 2020 we did a did a tiny run of Brian Walsby illustrated Stains tee shirts based on the original Don Lewis cover photo featured on their classic Self Titled Debut album (released in 1983). This lead to a discussion about the album art and the discovery of some pretty cool outtakes from the original photo shoot. We were excited about the idea of featuring an unseen photo on this tee.
Jack Rivera: “This photograph was shot in the toilet at the Brooklyn Ave Vex club in Boyle Heights; early 1980. We had just driven down from our SF tour with Black Flag, Flipper, TSOL, etc… We were fried”.
Charles From Bifocal: “Who’s the extra guy in that photo?”.
Jack Rivera: “That’s Snapper Joe, a neighborhood dude high on Angel Dust; all bloody and beat up! He was a great guitarist ha… He was a fan and mascot. This photo kinda explains the whole craziness the STAINS had around them”
