Having grown up in the 80s/ 90s world of skateboarding and BMX; Unsane’s video for the song “Scrape” left a permanent mark on my early 20s hippocampus. I remember thinking Unsane seemed way too over the top for MTV, and I’m pretty certain that this video’s “shock” value was the reason they decided to air it. Needless to say: I was (and am) a huge fan of this noisy NYC band. If 20 year old me knew that I’d be working with these guys over 25 years later, he’d be stoked.

Here’s what artist and Amphetamine Reptile Lord Master Thomas Hazelmyer had to say about this artwork:

In tha woiks! A last hurrah with this release as we’re turning it over to Chris Spencer to release in future on his new Lamb Unlimited label. Until then though, here’s a peek at the art version release coming up on AmRep! Recorded at the Amphetamine Reptile Recording studios in ‘95, this LP also spawned the infamous scrape video. It was the then “new” Unsane line up that had just found their groove, and what a fucking monster it was. Riffing off that greasy assed mattress on the original sleeve was a treat. -Thomas Hazelmyer
