Product Description
Early 80’s Texas produced some of the most inventive and brilliant music (Big Boys, Butthole Surfers, The Dicks, DRI, MDC, etc, etc…) but one of the best things to emerge from Texas would have to be Mr. David Yow. David started off (as he Dicks before him) as a poster prank artist/band Toxic Shock, who shared bills with most all of the aforementioned bands. The idea of agitating and arousing people with a dark sense of humor was there from the very beginning, and indeed, that’s the brilliant legacy David Yow has given us. From Toxic Shock, to Scratch Acid, The Jesus Lizard and currently Flipper; David has brought a stage presence matched only by a young HR from the Bad Brains. David gives it all during a show and enters into an almost shamanistic state while whipping the crowd into a lather. It’s truly a remarkable thing to watch him in action. When I was told that he was interested in using a Sharpie sketch I had recently done of him as a shirt for Bifocal, you could have knocked me over with a feather. I was pretty stunned. I mean, David has impeccable taste and is quite an artist himself, and yet he was interested in working with ME! Honestly, I’m just so happy to be able to present this stark Sharpie sketch of the man, the myth, Mr. David Yow. -Chris Shary
