Big Star

I discovered Big Star and their “Number One Record’ from my very first girlfriend decades ago. Since then, I have loved all three Big Star records as well as the Chris Bell “I Am The Cosmos’ album. I can always listen to Big Star… anytime. Recently: while an tour with the Melvins, I had the opportunity to visit Ardent Studios (in Memphis) and meet Big Star drummer Jody Stephens. He gave us all a tour. I was prudent enough to give Jody one of my Melvins parodies. This one was of the band (Melvins) impersonating Big Star on their “Radio City’ album cover. That led to this: a rendering of the original band (Stephens, Bell, Andy Hummel and of course Alex Chilton) with the trademark star behind them.
