Happy Holidays. This painting is called “Peace On Earth”.
I started this painting at the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
When I work, I delve into: The painting surface; the world at large; my mindset and my mood.
There was a time when, feeling or witnessing the horrors of war, I’d channel that horror, and my anger. I’d paint with rage.
It took me longer to be able to paint with tenderness, with mercy, with hope.
There was the painting surface. There was the world at large. There was my mindset and mood. And there was something else too: The thing I most hoped for.
