Product Description
I met Coady Willis a long time ago in Charlotte North Carolina. I knew he was supposed to be a great great drummer, and a leftie to boot! He was in the duo Big Business, who kicked a lot of ass that night. Coady is a beast of a drummer, his arms seemed to be raised behind his head at all times, savagely destroying his drum set. In short, he was real good!
Maybe six months later, he and Big Biz bassist Jared Warren actually joined the Melvins. It was the start of a really great period for the Melvins, it almost seemed like Buzz and Dale went into a time machine and picked two younger counterparts to join them. I got to work for the band for quite awhile, and the Dale/Coady double drummer thing was always exciting. Some of the bands best shows I witnessed were with this version of the band.
These days Coady continues to play with Melvins from time as well as continuing to play with Big Business and High On Fire. This guy is not only one of my favorite drummers, he’s a sweetheart, a total gentlemen, and a super nice guy, and he deserves all the attention he gets.
When Coady first joined the Melvins, a very small group of people would write on message boards and on social media about how Coady “ruined the Melvins”, something I always had a good laugh at. I started to draw pictures of him as Godzilla destroying a city, or him as an evil cyborg. Eventually I drew Coady here, as said monstrous cyborg, getting ready to ruin the Melvins, High In Fire, Murder City Devils, Big Business, and hopefully a bunch of other bands. Because that is what Coady Willis does: he ruins everything. -Brian Walsby
