JFA

There’s no feeling like carving over a pool light. It’s just the best. As an east coaster we never really got a chance to skate many pools like the ones we saw in the pages of Thrasher. Our pools were square or vinyl lined, any good pools were motel pools and they always had water in them. It’s the south its hot you don’t empty your pool.  I was in my 30’s the first time I got to skate a real backyard pool, I had gone to Phoenix to skate with some of the Old Man Army crew and there, at long last, was a real backyard with Mr. Rogers painted in the deep end. So now I always associate  backyard pools with Arizona and I’ve always associated Arizona with JFA. If you opened a skate mag any time in the 80’s, those pool rippers always had JFA stickers on their boards and you could usually spot it in spray paint somewhere in the deep end.  JFA is synonymous with pool skating. Those guys showed us the light.-Jer Warren
