Product Description
Originally formed in 1979, the Dayglo Abortions were at the forefront of a punk rock explosion in Victoria, BC, Canada during the 1980’s. Along with with founding members Murray ‘Cretin’ Acton, Trevor ‘Spud’ Hagen, and Jesus Bonehead, the Dayglos were amongst the first in Victoria to rent halls and put on their own shows. Victoria’s scene grew with a phenomenal number of great bands, punching way above their weight class for such a small and secluded capital city. Dayglo music is fast and powerful, with raw energy that permeates from every riff, drum roll, and bass line. Their lyrics use comedy, satire, and sarcasm in an effective way of getting across complex political messages that expose the control and influence that big business and political parties force upon us. After more than fourty years, eleven albums, and countless tours, Murray Acton is the band’s last founding member who’s still active in the group. They still rage on with songs that encourage us to fight back at all forms of tyranny, while mocking the powers that be with a humorist approach that the Dayglo Abortions do better than anyone.- John Burwood
