Product Description
Sin 34 were a Southern California hardcore punk band that mostly existed between 1981 and 1985, with some reunion activity decades later. One notable thing about the band was that their lead singer Julie….was a girl. These days that’s not a big deal…It wasn’t a big deal in the few years before “hardcore” was coined (thanks to Canadian band DOA), but in 1981 or 1982, there were a lot of young males slam dancing and plowing into each other. So much so that most woman wisely had no time for such antics.
It was kind of a macho scene in Los Angeles at the time, so it was a breath of fresh air to hear Julie barking out lyrics behind Phil, Mike, and Dave. Sin 34 were pioneers in this regard. They were a bit less macho and heavy handed than some of their peers and they appeared to be having (wait for it) FUN when they rocked out. That made them stand out even more.
Sin 34 released a single and a album in their lifetime, material that I like to this very day, now matter how old I am! I would like to thank surviving members Dave Markey and Michael Glass for allowing myself and Charles the chance to make this shirt. Thanks and Cheers! -Brian Walsby
