VAZ

In 2002 we made a documentary about an underground music festival called…”Michigan Fest”. The lineup was stellar thanks to the curators at Makoto Recordings (RIP) who organized the whole thing. We filmed every set and I was an onstage cameraman for the whole shebang. At some point during the rock marathon a couple of unassuming dudes set up a couple of towering speakers and a rag tag drum kit. I didn’t recognize them, but I knew that they were a band called “VAZ”. The frontman politely said “Hello” and they proceeded to blow the doors off the VFW hall. They were incredible and instantly became one of my favorite bands of the whole mid 90s- early 2000s era. I saw VAZ a few more times over the years and we spoke about doing some sort of music release on Bifocal.
