Product Description
My journey with the Wright brothers music began with first hearing NOMEANSNO’s “MAMA” album in high school around 1991. Over the course of the next few years I became a huge fan of this Canadian band and their demented, jazz tinted take on punk rock.
When we started doing the limited edition merch collaborations (around 2009) one of the first bands I tried to get on board was NOMEANSNO. It took a few years, but eventually, (thanks to Abe Brennan) I was connected with John Wright and we started doing merch for the band.
My first exposure to Dead Bob came with an email from John and a link to a few rough mixes for songs off their upcoming “Life Like” album. At this point the band didn’t have a name yet and he was just sharing songs to get my take on them. The songs were great and a year or so later, Dead Bob was the “new NOMEANSNO band” with a full length in the mix and a lot of touring.
This is the third Dead Bob Tee we’ve done and the first I’ve designed. It uses John’s original artwork, lifted from NOMEANSNO’s “You Kill Me” EP. This would be the origins of the “Dead Bob” band name so I figured it made sense to include it. John suggested we do some sort of M C Escher transformation from the Nomeansno block style logo into the official Dead Bob logo. I tried and failed to pull that off in a way that didn’t suck, but in the process; came up with this NMN styled Dead Bob logo that looked good behind Mr. Bob and his cat. I hope you’re as excited about how it turned out as we are. –Charles Cardello/ Bifocal Media
