My first exposure to the beautiful rasp of Kim Shattuck (RIP) came with the 1994 release of the NOFX song “Lori Meyers”. I was enthralled with her voice and I was quick to purchase The Muffs “Big Mouth” 7″ single. I’ve been a huge fan of The Muffs ever since.
This is the 2nd Muffs/ Evil Jay shirt offering from Bifocal Media. Our relationship with the band was slow to develop as we started chatting with them about doing a shirt around 10 years ago thought artist Chris Shary. Folks were busy, folks got sick, Kim tragically passed away and the idea of doing a shirt seemed very very low on the priority list for everyone involved…Until Jay connected with Ronnie around a year ago.
We’re beyond giddy to be working with the surviving members of the Muffs as well as Kim’s family to produce these shirts. We hope you love them as much as we do. Charles Cardello/ Bifocal Media.
Evil Jay from Tokyo here… gotta chime in with excitement for this new shirt for one of my favorite bands. Yes, The Muffs shirt is real and is now available. This one started off from an interesting angle. Around 2020 I posted a drawing based on a photo of the great Kim Shattuck. The husband of the original photographer (shout out to Cat Rose) mentioned how much he liked it and it was such a cool connection. Naturally, this got me excited and curious to try out a few ideas for The Muffs and we’re super honored to pull back the curtain on this new limited shirt design. -Evil Jay, Tokyo
