NETHERLANDS

I met TIMO back in 2018 when he hit me up about painting the back of a few denim jackets for his band NETHERLANDS. I had never heard the music, so I went to St. Vitus to check them out. I was blown away by their balance of noise, distortion, and melody. Add in the wild stage performance and I was an instant fan. Fast forward to 2023, I reached out to TIMO about doing this collaboration with Bifocal. When we sat down to talk about the design, we spoke about humanity’s connection (or disconnection) with nature, and how it relates to their new record “Severance”. This resonated with me, having recently swapped out NYC for Northern Maine just a couple years ago. After some brainstorming and deliberation, we developed the idea of a strong, healthy, dark, godly, and foreboding TREE. Super stoked to have done this design for NETHERLANDS.
