In 1993 the radio was ripe (perhaps to the point of rotting) with a ton of moaning “Grunge” acts that all seemed to have an odd Glenn Danzig singing “Mother” falsetto going on. I was enjoying my first year of college, and spending a lot of time discovering 30 years of weird underground music that I had missed out on growing up in the rural south. It’s no wonder that by the time I came across the New Bomb Turks’ “Drunk On Cock” EP and heard their cover of the Queers’ “This Place Sucks” I was an instant fan.

Destroy-Oh-Boy was the first Full Length record released by The New Bomb Turks. It was a crunchy, dirty, snarling, smart assed, sarcastically brilliant answer to the “Grunge” era and all of it’s self conscious dramatic moaning and mid tempo foot dragging. It was also fast as fuck from beginning to end and 1993 me loved that aspect of their Punk Rock n Roll revivalist approach. After buying this record I started exploring the rest of the Crypt Records catalog (NBT were on Crypt) which led to an appreciation for pre-punk era rock n roll like the Stooges, MC5, Radio Birdman, Etc.

This will be the 5th T-shirt we’ve done with NBT and the 2nd Turks tee we’ve worked on with comic artist Martin Dunn. I had been looking to purchase a “Destroy…” tee for a while and after a few years of failing to find one that was legit, I spoke with Martin and the band and asked if they would be into doing a redux on the original masterful executed album art by Arturo De Leon. They were into it and as you can see, Martin was up to the task. We hope you dig it. GO MAN GO!!! -Charles Cardello
