I first heard/met Sleepytime Trio in the summer of 1995 when they played in my parent’s garage in the tiny town of Nashville, NC. There were around 50 people in attendance to see whatever local bands were playing the party. Most of them were outside drinking 40s and wrecking my folks’ yard when the band’s set started. By the end of the first song, everyone was packed inside the garage watching in awe as 4 skinny dudes spazzed out and blazed through what (to me) sounded like the band Slint on a heavy dose of speed. I was an instant fan. I purchased the only thing they had to offer (a seven inch) and played it weekly on my radio show when school started back up. ‘Fast forward to 1997. I was working on an underground music documentary. When I heard Sleepytime was playing at Lizard and Snake in Chapel Hill, I grabbed my camera and drove to the show. “Rock Candy” ended up being the last live song in The Actuality of Thought video. This was Bifocal Media number one.

When we thought of doing a shirt featuring a redux of Sleepytime’s “Memory Minus” album art, David Eichenberger was the first person I called. David is an old friend from Raleigh with an amazing gift for tasty fine lined illustrations. His work is precise and organic and… as you can see, a perfect fit for our artsy fartsy t-shirt!

Sleepytime Trio are donating their profits from the sale of this shirt to Mercy House. An organization in Harrisionburg, VA helping underprivileged families with dependent children safely navigate their way out of poverty.

LIMITED TO 300. Ladies’ shirts are printed on Bella Favorite Ts. Ladies’ sizes run small!
