Product Description
I met Sleepytime Trio in 1996 when they played a show in my parents garage in the middle of nowhere NC. A year or so later, I filmed them playing a show at Lizard And Snake in Chapel Hill NC and a song from that set ended up in the first Bifocal Media release: “The Actuality Of Thought” Video. I’ve been lucky enough to work with these guys on numerous projects over the years and they have never let me down on a musical or personal level. I love this band.
I’m also a huge fan of the crude, well composed line illustrations of Hayden Menzies. It’s like demented, broken clip art with playful (sometimes disturbing) subject matter. Hayden’s work makes me want more tattoos… that’s saying a lot. -Charles Cardello/ Bifocal Media
It goes without saying that one of the coolest things about playing in a band and playing other cities / states / countries is all of the rad, like-minded people that you meet. We met Hayden back in the 1990’s through playing shows with his bands, and watching his incredible drumming in Three Penny Opera, The Grey, and later in the band Metz. Hayden is also an accomplished visual artist with a wildly unique perspective, and we couldn’t be more pumped on what came out of his warped brain when we asked if he wanted to design a Sleepytime shirt for us. -Jonathan Fuller/ Sleepytime Trio
When I was asked to draw a shirt design for Sleepytime Trio, I smiled immediately. The band, the people and this era of music brought back many fond memories. Knowing that kindness, compassion and creative curiosity are common currencies among peers is the biggest artistic payday. They are qualities that I value above all in my own art, and enrich working collaboratively with others. Thanks to Sleepytime Trio and Bifocal Media for having me! -Hayden Menzies
