Boston’s SSD were pretty much that city’s spark, as far as early eighties punk rock/hardcore goes. I remember reading about them in a scene report submitted to Flipside magazine at the end of 1982. They had already released their first album, but I managed to find a copy of their follow up, the Get It Away 12 inch e.p. I was hooked right away, a pulverizing seven song effort with scorching sandpaper vocals courtesy of the bands frontman Springa, pile driving riffing courtesy of band lynchpin Al Barile, and a recently added second guitarist wailing away in an almost atonal way that almost sounded like jazz horns to me! The back cover photos of the band were the icing on the cake. I stared at that back cover a lot. To this very day, I consider that record very important to me, so it was really nice of Al Barile to let me and Charles do this limited shirt. We hope you like it! -Brian Walsby
