Product Description
The T shirt version of this design sold out quickly so… here’s a hoodie.
The Black Cat is a well known Washington, DC area music venue that’s been hosting amazing shows since 1993. As with almost all small to mid sized clubs in the US, Black Cat serves as a hub for both national and local independent music and art. These spaces are an invaluable resource for any town and city that’s lucky enough to have them. We recently decided to start celebrating independent venues with a series of Bifocal shirt collaborations. This is the first in the series.
I few months ago I reached out to Black Cat Co owner Dante Ferrando about doing a shirt for a band he had been in (Gray Matter). Once I discovered that Dante was a founder of the club, I immediately inquired about making this shirt happen. Once we got an affirmative from Dante, I started thinking about visual artists with ties to the DC punk scene.
My first Email was to Jeff Nelson of Dischord Records/ Minor Threat fame as I knew he was a fantastic designer with a substantial DC connection. While Jeff was a bit busy to work on this one, he was kind enough to point me in the direction of the wonderfully talented design duo of Vida Russell and Rob Myers. Rob is also well known for his work with DC area bands (Thievery Corporation, Fort Knox Five, See-I, Thunderball, International Velvet) so pairing him up with Black Cat was a no brainer. Dante and Co. were excited about the collaboration and this tee is the result of a month or two of work and conversations. I love how it turned out and I hope you dig our Black Cat tee. -Charles Cardello/ Bifocal Media
