Product Description
Independent record labels were a big deal in the 1990s. They represented specific sounds, geographies, and identities. During this time, I was purchasing a ton of thrash records and Deejaying a weekly radio show in Greenville, NC. Many of these releases were published by Chris Dodge’s Slap A Ham Records. Chris put out records for everyone from Fu Manchu and The Melvins to Capitalist Casualties and his own bands Spazz, No Use For A Name, and Stikky (among others).
I met Chris in 1997 when I booked a show for Spazz and included a song from their set in the “Actuality Of Thought” Video (BFM #1). I was struck by how friendly and down to earth he was. I reconnected with Mr. Dodge a few years ago when we worked with Spazz again on a T shirt and he’s continued to be an easy to work with fella.
Recently I was recording a Podcast/ radio show with Brian Walsby and we played a Spazz song. This lead to Walsby and I discussing Slap A Ham and Chris Dodge. That lead to this shirt happening. It’s Brian’s new take on an old Slap A Ham graphic originally created by Chris … So many circles complete! -Charles Cardello/ Bifocal Media
