In 1990, the only place (in my small hometown) to see music videos featuring bands that didn’t sound like Winger or Madonna was MTV’s “120 Minutes With Dave Kendall”. This was before Nirvana’s breakout video for “Smells Like Teen Spirit” forced Punk/Indie tinted videos into the networks’ prime hours. 120 Minutes aired on Sunday night from 12-2:00 AM. This was my introduction to the force that is Swervedriver. Their video for “Son of Mustang Ford” came on as part of some sort of “Shoegaze” block (as introduced by the almost annoyingly English) Dave Kendall. It sounded like the Stooges, Dinosaur Jr, and My Bloody Valentine duking it out and I was an instant fan.

I met Ron Liberti at the Cat’s Cradle in Chapel Hill, NC around this time (’90-’92) when his band Pipe opened for Jesus Lizard. As it turned out, Ron was an amazing artist and screen printer who did most of the poster art for shows at the Cradle. Now, more than 20 years later we’re happy to be working with Ron and Swervedriver’s Adam Franklin to produce this amazing Rock N Roll garment. Enjoy! -Charles Cardello/ Bifocal Media
