When one thinks of early 80’s hardcore, it’s easiest to think of it in terms of coasts. However, there were small pockets throughout the country that were spawning bands that held their own next to the big guys. Detroit, Austin, and Chicago had their stable of insanely intense bands, and then there’s Indianapolis. Not really your punk mecca. When one thinks of Indianapolis, or any of Indiana, one can only think of the ZERO BOYS. Sporadically active from 1979, to the present, it’s the ZERO BOYS “Vicious Circle” album that really put them on the map. You’ve seen the obnoxious yellow album cover screaming out from record racks for years, and if you were curious enough to pick it up, you know what a slab of bliss it is. Probably the best aspect of the ZERO BOYS is the fact that they did not totally forsake rock or melody for the older faster harder aesthetic. That, consequently, is why they still sound great! 2014’s album “Monkey” shows that same sensibilities and is a fantastic release as well. I couldn’t be more pleased to be able to work with such a rad band, make sure you check em out when they come through your town, as they still tour. Welcome to the viscous circle! -Chris Shary
